The Seven Elements of Great Design: 5- Contrast

I have said it before and will say it again. Contrast is not often taught in design school but is the most critical thing to understand.  Straight vs. curved lines.  Contrast in colors, the way that an antique is paired with something modern… All examples of contrast. While there must be a concept or a thread that runs through a space, creating a cohesive whole, just as important are elements in tension to achieve a dynamic and daring feel.
