The Seven Elements of Great Design: 3- Texture

If Pattern is the star, texture is the supporting role. In many cases more important because it gives everything else the gravitas it needs. Light needs to create high and low lights… Texture.  Pattern needs something to uplift and play off of…Texture. Color is too intense and overbearing… Change the textures in a monochromatic room and see what happens. You get the idea! Without a textural quality, (and its kissing cousin tactile quality,) you have flat and boring spaces that do not invite you in.
